On Thursday, 23 April, SOILCRATES coordinator Jildou de Raad presented the SOILCRATES project during the NBRACER immersive visit at the House of the Province of Fryslân.
While SOILCRATES and NBRACER are part of different EU Missions, “A Soil Deal for Europe” and “Adaptation to Climate Change”, the discussions highlighted a strong connection between their goals. Participants emphasized that healthy soils are not only essential for sustainable land management, but also play a crucial role in building climate-resilient systems.
The exchange underscored the importance of integrating soil health into broader climate adaptation strategies. By improving soil quality, we enhance ecosystems’ ability to store carbon, retain water, and withstand environmental pressures, all key elements in responding effectively to climate change.
SOILCRATES looks forward to further exploring opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing with NBRACER, strengthening the link between soil health and climate resilience across Europe.
