On 5 May, AGROBIO 40 organised a hands-on training session focused on measuring nitrogen residues in agricultural soils. Farmers participating in the Living Lab des Landes ,whose field experiments are supported by the SOILCRATES project, learned practical techniques to monitor mineral nitrogen dynamics before and during crop cycles.

This knowledge will help farmers:

  • optimise fertiliser applications,
  • improve nitrogen-use efficiency,
  • reduce nutrient leaching,
  • and limit environmental pollution linked to excess nitrogen losses.

The training strengthens the Living Lab’s commitment to developing practical, science-based solutions for more sustainable soil and nutrient management across European farming systems.

SOILCRATES is proud to support collaborative initiatives that connect researchers, advisors, and farmers in testing and implementing innovative agroecological practices in real farming conditions.

We would like to thank Jade Salmon for organising the session, Cédric Hervouet for delivering the training, and Romain Mouly for hosting the event on his farm.
