On 10 and 11 June 2026, Guadix hosted the technical days “Situación Actual de la Vitivinicultura”, bringing together stakeholders from across the wine sector to reflect on some of the main challenges currently facing viticulture in Granada.
The event addressed key topics including climate change, soil conservation, innovation, wine quality and the valorisation of the local territory. These discussions are particularly relevant in a region where viticulture is closely linked to rural identity, landscape management and sustainable development.
In the framework of the Granada Tierra Viva campaign, SOILCRATES was represented by Jesús Rodrigo Comino, researcher in the European SOILCRATES project and member of the Granada Tierra Viva Living Lab team.
His contribution, titled “Cuidar el suelo del viñedo y afrontar el cambio climático” — “Caring for vineyard soils and facing climate change”, SOILCRATES contributes to technical days on the future of viticulture in Guadixconnected the realities of Granada’s vineyards with wider discussions on agricultural sustainability, climate resilience and responsible soil management.
By bringing the perspective of SOILCRATES into this technical event, the intervention highlighted the importance of healthy soils in supporting more resilient viticulture systems. It also reinforced the role of Living Labs as spaces where research, local knowledge, producers, public authorities and territorial actors can come together to address shared challenges.
The event provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between the productive sector, research, administrations and the local territory, supporting progress towards a more innovative, sustainable and place-based viticulture in rural Granada.
