SOILCRATES General Assembly 2025: Co-Creating a Healthier Future for Europe’s Soils
From 15–17 October 2025, the SOILCRATES consortium gathered in Granada, Spain, for its third General Assembly — three inspiring days of collaboration, innovation, and shared learning. Hosted by the Universidad de Granada, Diputación de Granada, and the Granada Tierra Viva Living Lab, the event brought together partners from across Europe to reflect on progress and plan the next steps toward healthier soils and more resilient ecosystems.
This year’s highlights included the launch of the €1.6 million Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP) scheme, which will fund at least 40 innovative projects led by farmers, SMEs, associations, and educational organisations. Partners also shared updates on the expanding network of four Living Labs, now involving 350+ farmers and stakeholders and featuring 35 best practices, 12 Living Lab sessions, and five operational experimental sites.
Participants explored local examples of innovation, from sustainable olive oil production at Omed Venchipa to cutting-edge research at the Escúzar Particle Accelerator. Interactive workshops, including sessions on soil health assessment, Living Lab collaboration, and the upcoming European Soil Health Festival, reinforced the consortium’s commitment to turning knowledge into real-world impact.
As the Assembly concluded, partners renewed their shared mission to bridge science, policy, and practice under the EU Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe”, ensuring that Europe’s soils remain healthy, resilient, and sustainably managed for generations to come.
