The influence of productive, herb-rich grassland on soil processes and utilisation within crop rotation

This pilot study investigates how productive species-rich grassland contributes to building soil quality and its effects on soil processes, nutrient utilization, and leaching risk. By comparing species-rich grassland with regular grassland, insight is gained into differences in soil structure, organic matter dynamics, mineralization, water management, and soil life. Furthermore, research is being conducted into how the accumulated soil quality can be utilized within crop rotations, with the aim of reducing external inputs and increasing resilience in subsequent crops.
