Soil Deal for Europe

This project addresses soil compaction, waterlogging, and low fertility on degraded farmland. The field has a history of poor management, including overgrazing, heavy machinery use, and excessive nitrogen inputs, resulting in compacted soil, low productivity, poor grass quality, and reduced biodiversity.

The aim is to restore soil health and productivity through two actions. First, grassland species diversification will improve resilience to drought, heat, and excess water while enhancing forage quality and reducing fertiliser needs. Second, the use of seaweed products (liquid and granular) will increase soil organic matter, support biodiversity, and suppress harmful soil organisms. Together, these measures aim to improve soil structure, boost ecosystem health, reduce chemical inputs, and enhance water quality in the surrounding environment.
