Local Soil Fertility Solutions

Compost will be applied to a grassland farming system with the aim of increasing soil organic matter, microbial diversity and soil fertility, all of which contribute to improved soil functioning. The effectiveness of the addition of microbial biostimulants, as used in Korean Natural Farming, to enhance soil life will be assessed. If successful, it is expected the decomposition of organic matter will be accelerated resulting in increased nutrient cycling, overall soil health and a subsequent increase in grassland productivity, which will lead to a reduced dependency on artificial inputs.
