Intercropping with Field Margins proposal

The project aims to improve soil structure, enhance nitrogen fixation and to suppress weeds whilst enhancing the local circular economy. The project will have a rotation of intercropping with a pea and barley mix, followed by a mix of bean and wheat, before sowing a crop of organic oats to be used for human consumption. Additionally, a buffer zone will be created on the field margin to control any potential nutrient runoff or sediment loss, and to enhance on-farm biodiversity.
