Last month, the SOILCRATES Ireland project held a joint co-creation session at Doon Social Farm, joined by over 40 participants including farmers from across Clare, Limerick and Tipperary.
Talks featured Dr Lena Madden, who spoke about the SOILCRATES EU initiative and other funded farm soil health funded projects; presentations from our partners Cloughjordan Community Farm, Ballyhoura Development CLG, and Loop Head Together CLG on their current work and the supports available to farmers in the area; and contributions from TUS Sustainable Development Research Institute (SDRI) and Green Restoration Ireland outlining their activities and farming development initiatives.
Marie Taylor PhD from SDRI, Douglas McMillan from Green Restoration Ireland, and Brendan Molloy, project manager of SCEENE-EIP at Loop Head Together, also shared their expertise throughout the session.
The event concluded with a round-table discussion where participants exchanged ideas on sustainability, soil health, and the evolving policy and governance model for the Living Lab.
