The city of Granada hosted the TERRAenVISION 2025 International Conference from 8 to 11 July, bringing together international experts to exchange knowledge on nature-based solutions, soil health, and sustainable agricultural ecosystems within planetary boundaries.
The SOILCRATES project, and the Granada Tierra Viva Living Lab participated in the conference, representing the University of Granada under the coordination of Esteban Romero Frías the Vice-Rectorate for Social Innovation and Knowledge Transfer.
Contributions from the Granada team addressed issues such as soil conservation, sustainable agriculture, and climate resilience in Andalusia. In addition, the Granada Tierra Viva Living Lab presented updates on the establishment of a living laboratory for sustainable soil management in the province, which promotes collaboration between academia, public administrations, the agricultural sector, and local communities through open innovation processes.
The conference programme also included a technical field visit to experimental vineyards between Padul and Cozvíjar, as well as olive and almond plantations in Lanjarón, where Granada Tierra Viva is testing practices such as cover crops, aromatic plant cultivation, and new soil management techniques.
Through this participation, the SOILCRATES project and Granada Tierra Viva contributed to the exchange of knowledge and experiences on soil health and sustainable land management, reinforcing the role of Granada in European discussions on ecological transition and agricultural sustainability.
