A SOILCRATES Ireland Co-Creation session took place at the Cross Digital Hub in County Clare, bringing together local stakeholders to discuss the project’s latest developments and opportunities for enhancing soil health.
The session provided participants with an overview of recent progress within the SOILCRATES project, with particular focus on the proposed timelines for the Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP) soil health call. This call will provide funding opportunities to support farmers in trialling soil health management practices.
As part of the event, Dr. Lena Madden (TUS) delivered a presentation outlining a range of soil health practices that farmers may adopt under the project framework. Her presentation highlighted practical approaches that can contribute to improved soil quality, sustainability, and long-term farm resilience.
Following the presentation, participants engaged in an open discussion on soil health enhancement strategies, with a focus on the practices most suitable for their farms. Farmers also shared their personal experiences and past efforts in soil management, contributing valuable insights to the exchange of knowledge.
The session reflected the collaborative spirit of the SOILCRATES Living Lab approach, fostering dialogue between researchers, practitioners, and farmers to co-design effective solutions for soil health and sustainable agriculture in Ireland.
