SUMMARY:Welcome to the Launch of Mission Soil Living Lab SOILCRATES-Ireland!
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for an exciting event where we dive deep into the world of soil and sustainability. The Soil Living Lab SOILCRATES-Ireland is here to revolutionize how we think about soil and its impact on our lives. \nThe SOILCRATES Ireland Living Lab\, spread across Counties Clare\, Limerick\, and Tipperary\, is dedicated to addressing Ireland’s unique agricultural and environmental challenges. This Living Lab is a central element in the SOILCRATES project\, with a focus on sustainable soil management\, biodiversity restoration\, and the integration of circular agriculture practices. Leveraging the expertise of the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS)\, this lab brings together local farmers\, government bodies\, advisory services\, and community organizations to co-create solutions that are ecologically sustainable and economically viable. \nThe Living Lab’s main initiatives include addressing soil health issues\, such as nitrogen overuse and poor drainage\, and introducing innovative practices like biochar application\, intercropping with nitrogen-fixing plants\, and community-oriented events. The lab is structured to support knowledge exchange across multiple counties\, fostering a collaborative network of stakeholders that promotes resilient agricultural systems in the Mid-West region. \nPlease register and come to the launch of our Living Lab! \nAgenda \nTime Activity \n10:15 Registration/Coffee-Tea \n11:00 Opening Comments \n11:15 Overview of SOILCRATES project (Dr Lena Madden) \n11:30 SOILCRATES Living Lab Structure (Dr Shane O’Sullivan) \n11:45 Living Lab Formation Case Study: Bioregional Weaving Lab – SE Ireland \n(Sarah Prosser & Keeley O’Brien) \n12:15 Panel Discussion \n12:45 Closing Remarks (Dr Lena Madden) \n13:00 Networking/light lunch \n \nRegistrer here: https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/launch-of-mission-soil-living-lab-soilcrates-ireland-tickets-1270701164389?aff=oddtdtcreator
